I think, it was June 2008 when I bought my Virgin Mobile cellphone with a US number. Since, I have been the receiver of calls from people and businesses looking for Jamie.

A few times CVS called for Jamie. A recorded voice alerted Jamie on drugs that were ready to pick up. The most memorable call for Jamie was, however, a person. She left a message. She thought, it was time for them to meet again, there were many things to tell, she said. Among other things, her pregnancy, which for Jamie had to be fresh news and for me more than I wanted, and most likely was expected, to know.

I did call her to note, Jamie probably had a new number, since at least almost a year. She appreciated my note and I sent her congratulations and my best wishes for her pregnancy. I think, she realized, perhaps once again, that phone numbers are not unique identifiers; the bottom line of this short story.
